Center investigators share access to the CSMR (Center for Soft Matter Research) and MDI (Molecular Design Institute) laboratories (totaling 30,000 sq. ft.), which collectively contain: (i) a Malvern Mastersizer S and a Malvern Zetasizer Nano ZS for characterizing colloidal particles, (ii) rheometers for measuring viscoelastic properties of complex fluids, (iii) optical micromanipulation capabilities provided by five state-of-the-art dynamic holographic optical trapping systems, (iv) fast-scan confocal, deconvolution, bright-field, dark-field, DIC and holographic video microscopes, (v) ultra-smallangle static and dynamic light scattering, as well as variable angle light scattering, (vi) UV-VIS and infrared spectrometers, including ATR and Seagull external multi-angle reflection accessories, (vii) microcalorimeters, (viii) five atomic force microscopes that collectively permit force measurements, imaging, and polymer dip-pen lithography; (ix) optical microscopes with temperature-controlled stages, (x) Langmuir-Blodgett troughs, (xi) a differential scanning calorimeter and thermal gravimetric analyzer, (xii) four gel-permeation chromatographs, (xiii) a 4-photoelastic modulator Mueller matrix polarimeter,

Mueller matrix imaging polarimeter, CCD-based Stokes imaging camera, and single molecule imaging microscope, (xiv) potentiostats for electrochemistry, with an electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance,

and (xv) a complete Materials Studio suite for molecular and crystal modeling.
